hi, hello, and howdy...

Hello there...been a few days, right?  Well...sitting here after a week of playing outside, gardening and painting the house, finally getting a little creative spark long enough to finish a few projects.  Wanted to pop in to share a few published cards that can be found in this month's issue of Northridge Publishing's CARDS magazine.  Full of color and happiness.

This card was published in the Cricut Magazine.  All of the papers are from Pebbles, American Crafts and Pink Paislee.

Have to get creative to finish a few more projects today and tomorrow.  With the kids out for the week, spring break, I am so tempted to spend another day outdoors.  Tending to the new garden, which is growing so beautifully.  We picked our first strawberries...just three...and they were so yummy.  The kids have also been picking from the parsley plant, which is quite surprising...making for one happy mama!  I have been on a healthy life journey, you can say, since December and sharing this with the kids has helped me so much.  After six years of struggling with my health it hit me one day and I finally realized it was my responsibility to make a difference.  There is something about gaining back that power that has got me running in so many different directions now and how exciting life has become.  Down twenty pounds, feeling better and the desire to spend time in my craft space and on the computer has been reduced significantly...which is why I am not around here as frequently.  This is all worth the work!  To celebrate where I am at the moment, I would love to share a little something with you...

Leave a comment here by April 1st at midnight for a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate to Etsy!

Thank you to everyone who has been an inspiration, supportive and caring along the way...

DIY your way to crafty...

Is it really Wednesday already?  According to my little men marching around counting the days until spring break begins on Friday...YES!  Attempting to clean, fit in a few workouts and feeling a little comfy cozy today with the dark clouds and rain today.  It is quite amazing how one cloudy day can change your mood.  But, as usual, before I dive right in it is time to share a bit of Precious Remembrance's new stamp set...Mom & Dad.

A change of materials was in order last night.  Missing the felt and fabric so very much.  For more information on how to create this head on over the the PR blog today...

Garden Update:  This is our first attempt at creating a garden, and first time I have ever tried to use cedar planter boxes.  So far our beans, beets, radishes, corn, lettuce and cucumbers have begun to grow.  There is something so fun about checking on the plants each day with the kids.  Surprisingly they are very territorial with "their" boxes.  Picked up a couple of garden gnomes yesterday to set in each one to personalize them a bit.  My youngest loves to put his name on everything still at six so this was an alternative.

Have a good day!

craft your way to spring...

There is something about this time of year in Florida when you just can't help but live outside most of the day.  From the early morning chill in the air to the mid day sun and then enjoying an evening watching the kids run around outside.  This is the time of year that all of the indoor projects, like crafting, may get a little neglected.  But before we know it, the humidity and heat will be setting in and our desire to be outside very minimal.  So as I pull myself away from our new garden project, which is showing signs of success thus far, and back into my craft space for a project here and there...this card and gift box set were created for Therm O Web yesterday.

The bunny started out as a plush, but ended up as a quilted fabric piece for the card.  Took a bit of a creative detour from the original project but love the outcome.

This week I will be sharing a layering tutorial that was requested, thank you for the comments, and a giveaway.  More to come, but first a couple of days to enjoy the outdoors.  Happy Tuesday!

did someone say CONFETTI...

Just saying the word "confetti" brings something to mind, right?  Fun...a little bit of this and that...color.  This week at American Crafts it is all about that one party favorite.  In the card above I began with the stitched garland paper banner as the foundation for my "string of confetti".  Layering on puffy stickers and punched circles from paper.

Do you ever find that you have scrap pieces of ribbon lying around that need to find a project home?  Here I cut ribbon, used a double sided adhesive sheet (like icraft from Therm O Web) layered on a piece of paper and added the pieces of ribbon.  Press down firmly to make sure the pieces are adhering to the to paper.  I then added stitching.

This last card uses the more traditional presentation of confetti in a glassine envelope; however, went a little larger with the pieces.  Created a bit of a shaker card effect.

Hope you enjoyed these projects and make sure to head on over to American Crafts to see some amazing layouts, altered projects and much more this week using CONFETTI!

P.S.  I will be taking a couple of days to finish up a few project here and spend the weekend with friends.  Will be back on Monday with a new project tutorial and giveaway!  Stay tuned.

the best...

Time to celebrate a new release for Precious Remembrance!  This set, titled Mom & Dad is another perfect addition to the PR family.

My favorite part of this set is the polka dot border.  Great for creating your own background paper.

Precious Remembrance is giving away one stamp set today.  Just click on over to the blog and add your comment!

icraft, you craft...

Happy Saturday!  Poppin' in quickly to share a tutorial posted yesterday over on the Therm O Web blog.  Working with some iCraft this week and confetti...yeah!  Off to spend a day with my boys and keeping my fingers crossed they hold onto those smiles throughout the day.  Hope you are enjoying your weekend so far.  Any crafty plans this weekend?  This is what we are preparing for this coming week.

Planted our seedling pots, ordered our garden tables and researching how to do it all here in Florida.  Each summer my boys head to Oregon and spend many days in their grandmother's garden.  Digging, planting and eating a few veggies along the way (surprisingly).  Finally taking the steps to create our own in the small amount of space we have.

Have a wonderful weekend and happy creating!

end with a little fluff...

It is Friday, which sometimes means take it easy...put on a good movie with breakfast and take the day as it comes.  With having missed a day at the gym, running errands and packing boxes and give my little man extra cuddles and play time...today is my Thursday and that is alright by me.  Happy to say he is up and going this morning...time to dig in.

Today, Riddersholm Design is beginning their monthly Farm Girl Friday design team challenges complete with a giveaway!

This month's theme is Easter, and I have to say that I enjoyed creating this little gal yesterday just for this post.

Using Teressa Collins cartridge for the Cricut, and the Cricut Craft Room, I created a shaped card all decked out in pink paper from Riddersholm's Bello Patello 2 collection.   And of course it was not complete without a pom-pom tail, a couple bright white cherry blossom flowers and some braided fabric trim to top off her cuteness.

She will be hoping on over to my shop today.  Time to wrap it up and get to work, literally.  It is all about sending off some packages of creative goodies today and that is always a great feeling.  Enjoy your weekend!

P.S:  Another digital layout using Pink Paislee...

life is better with you dear lizzy...

Happy crafting day!  While one of my little men is home today, tucked warmly on the couch with his blanket, watching a movie with the sniffles I am tucked warmly in my craft space...parked out here for the day with a list of to-do's.  Many weeks have gone by just waiting for the day when I could post these cards.  Oh Dear Lizzy...steals my creative heart with every collection!

From collection to collection, the colors continue to draw me into a "use it all" kind of application...and I did.  There is something about making sure there is the pink, blue, green, yellow, white and so on in each card...why not?

This one shares a bit of Lucky Charm as well as My Girl (which was actually the focus).  What can I say...Dear Lizzy makes it difficult to stop at showcasing just one.  Similar to a chip commercial from way back when, seriously.

Hope you enjoyed a bit of Dear Lizzy.  For a complete list of supplies, more inspiration use your Dear Lizzy My Girl and so much more...head on over to American Crafts today!

crushing on some color...

In the mood for a color combination that is a mix of winter and spring.  After a chilly couple of weeks, but the tease of a warm day mixed in, the Color Crush inspiration at Pink Paislee this week is the perfect combination.

So many possibilities.  Took this challenge to create a couple of cards.

Looking to give these cards a soft touch with all of the light colors plus the addition of some tulle that has been floating around my craft room.

To create this background, and mute the yellow just a bit, I added a pleated layer of tulle which was then stitched along the edges and trimmed.

Added layers of Cottage Farms, Hope Chest, Artisan, Luxe and Portfolio collections.  If you take a look around the Pink Paislee blog and see all of the projects that showcase these burlap butterflies.  It is amazing that it adds to each piece without feeling like too much.  So light and beautiful!

Does this Color Crush combination inspire you?  Take a look at the blog today and the rest of the week for more.

Playing with a little Pink Paislee Digital today from their Affirmation collection, both the elements and journal cards.  Put this together in ten minutes and my desk is clean!

in the country...

After a week long visit with my parents they have headed back home today.  It is comforting to have them here.  Watching them together with my little men.  My father enjoys the laughter, my mother enjoys the cuddles and I enjoy seeing my boys soak it all up, reminding me of the love and attention I had growing up with my grandmothers.  The distance, much of the year, is too great.  There are days when packing up and moving back home seems like a good idea.  Just incredibly thankful for the trips we are able to take back and forth each year.  Today's project share fits perfectly with their visit too.

Time to go French Country with The Scrappy Boutique's Graphic 45 product sampler.  As I have mentioned over the past week, I have been shuffling through my photo box looking for the perfect (already printed) photos to use on my layouts.  For this layout I found two photos of my parents and older brother I still had from a scrapbook I created for them so many years ago.

Some of the colors in this collection reminded me of our little country house growing up.  Those were the days when my father sported a mustache.  Love these photos and missing them already!

When you have a sampler...gotta make a card too (well, in my craft space that is done).

Most of the product samplers are complete with tulle, and boy do I love the look.  Stay tuned to my Pink Paislee post on Wednesday to see other ways of using tulle as an accent.

Also, the winner of the craft supplies from last weeks giveaway is CYNTHIA B.  (#39)!  Make sure to send me an email with your address and I will ship them off this week.

I will be posting a few of my most recent creations in my Etsy shop this week, setting up another giveaway and sharing a new flower tutorial as well.  A fun week ahead and hope you can join me!

if I had a garden...

There is something about the hope that one day we will have a garden filled with colorful blooms, creepy crawlies, beautiful butterflies and my two little men working beside me (ok, by that time they will not be so little).  Although the chance of having a garden like this is in the distant future, and like I always say, there is the next best thing in creating your own in the craft room.  So that is what I am doing today...

The Scrappy Boutique is offering a product sampler from Graphic 45, Secret Garden.

Just sit back and take in all of that gorgeous color!  This is the reason I am content with having to create my own indoor garden.  So many amazing embellishments, stickers and all of those papers...in love.  In this kit you also receive fabric ribbon, buttons and twine to list just a few extras.  The kits come to you in vintage styled paper bags that can be perfectly paired any sampler kit.

There is a bit more to this layout, but my photo was not so good...thank goodness for cropping.  You can see that I used a bit of the paper bag to back the photo.  Love this photo.  I am rediscovering so many of my favorite snapshots of my boys from, what seems like, so long ago.  A local mall does these Easter photo shoots each year; however, we stopped after this one.  Grateful for all of the layouts I have been able to create lately to use these.

Thank you everyone for your comments yesterday.  Always fun celebrating birthdays...especially when the prepping and sharing includes crafting.  Tomorrow I will be back to share a little something from Scrappy Boutique's French Country sampler.  Going a little vintage with this one.

See you tomorrow!
